Odd, I thought the point to pve was an engrossing storyline and a challenge against non-player opponents.

Green items sorta piss me off, but at the same time.. they're so sweet.. and non customizable.

I definitely think it'll bring prices down on medicore gold items. However for 'rares' and high demand weapons it's still the same ballgame.

If you want to be unique take a step outside your door and achieve something in life, don't seek for a reality-replacement. Uniqueness doesn't mean anything in virtuality where thousands share the same perfect gold weapons, the same fissure armour and same opinions. No matter what you do there will always be someone with the same set, dye mix, perfect weapon. If it still bothers you, seek help, seek help immediately.

Ok, ill keep this simple. No mistakes were made by ANet, they did exactly what they intended to do, and that was to make some nice gear available to everyone so we don't have to grind for it. This game has never and will never be about uber items and the grind required to acquire them. If you want to waste your life grinding then find another game...

I do agree that the PvE game is shallow - there's really no denying that, but there are far better ways to increase the depth and complexity of the roleplaying experience than to add amazing weapons that take months or years to actually find.

The next step I would like to see from ANet would be to make all or most bosses drop unique weapons, which would be fun to find and enable you to create a truly unique character.

Oh well....I quit playing too. But not without leaving a comment about something that bothered me since the first stated whining about farmers / grinders.
For that I just quote the guy above me, because thats a perfect example:

Ok, this game is not about uber items. We ALL know that (even the farmers). But why the hell do you complain then ? Everytime theres a post about farming/grinding there is at least one guy telling us that a normal collector item is as good as a golden one. Well, then just take ur RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing collector stuff, but don´t complain about ppl who like to find their stuff in a golden colour. Anet "fixed" this game for a part of the community to death. Not everyone like to play the game the way you want. We all payed the same money for the game, and if we want to play it the way it´s fun for us, we should be able to do this.
Heres a free hint for Anet: remove ALL golden/green/purple/blue/white items from the game, also remove ALL skills from the game. Just make one class which can either hold a sword with fixed stats and one attack spell, or a healing staff and one healing spell. Then you wont have to fix anymore. PvPers can play without crying that skill xyz is sooooo overpowered. Also you should remove the whole PVE part, just keep the thirsty river mission (because this one is mostly like PvP) and make it a little longer/harder.
Just my 2 cents.
Bye, over & out

Disagree with OP.

I've played serveral beta events and a lot when the game came out. When it started there wasn't the constant spam (in lions arch, too high items in Ascalon to new player) about godly gold x item and the obsession with it (from what I observed), also the lack of runners spam and the string of people who want to "rush", the runner pleas for Defend Droaknor are funny and it's out two days.

This patch update has made several aspects of the game feel fun that I felt when the game went live. I've always found the game fun as it changed but the nature of the game (PvE) seems to be going back to more like it started.

To me these changes were for the better and has had a great impact. I can see people who came latter did the solo monk / farming to sell for money (and be good at it) and not experience the pre-inflation economy and all the changes seeing how the game they come to know is changing.

My two cents on it, personally A+ Anet, also look forward to your paid expansion and hoping you don't do pre-order unique items from different stores again.. my wallet would thank you... or be drained if you do

but gold items are not be all and end all of life. I gain my enjoyment from trying new tactics and characters and builds. not by possibly maybe getting a uber 1337 drop.
these items make Guild Wars even less grind orientated. no longer do you need to farm for hours on end to get your perfect drop. it will now simply be a matter of a players skill with the build he is using. i have been in GW since its release and i have been into the same areas over and over again. but with each new skillset it is a new experience. there is an almost infinate possible number of skill permutations.
Making this game very replayable.

the new Green weapons and increased drop rate of golds is benificial IMO.

I think most non farmers don´t understand why ppl are running for hours to the same mobs over and over again. It´s not that you NEED a specific item - you just want to find it. It´s fun for ppl like me to find those golden items - personally I don´t need gold (chest is already full) or ectos / shards. I just like to have it :P
It´s always a kick when theres a golden drop from a monter and it may be a perfect one.

This thread was a complaint by farmers. You have to expect someone to defend A-Net on this when many of us despise farming and never want a game that rewards people that farm.

If you can get a better item than I have by farming while I'm exploring new and dangerous areas without concern to reward then I'm at a disadvantage in a group. That's exactly the opposite from what I think is right in any game. Those with bravery and ability taking great risks should be rewarded over those who take the safe and repetitive route. At a minimum the reward should be equal. That's right about where it is in GW.

I will complain about many things in GW but I will never complain about the economy or the way they reject farmers plea's for an unfair advantage.

Pure Domination is right: In a game without 'uber' items farming is no problem at all. Same for playing solo. The problem is not farming or soloing, the problem is the negative associations players, and obviously Anet too, have with this. Just let go the idea that playing solo makes players stronger than you and play the game the way you like. I hope Anet will finally realize that this is just a ghosthunt. There never was a solo problem, there never was a grinding problem, people MADE it a problem by comparing it to other games and drawing the wrong conclusions.

Is this true? I also heard that they are not upgradeable. If so, I don't see why the very elite gold weapons will fall off in value.

If you are truly searching for YOUR perfect weapon (e.g. axe), would you rather have Razorstone at max damage (req 9), 15>50, 10/10 furious and +20% axe mastery OR

A gold max damage axe (req 8), 15>50, 10/10 furious, +30 fortitude and 20% customized?

The Gold weapon >>>>>> the crap green weapon IMO.

Yes, the value of mid-level weapons will fall to crap (although I'm starting to doubt this as well due to customization), but the upper level elite weapons will not. This just means more lower level characters will have very good weapons from the start.

Why does everyone keep telling us what the game is or isn't about? The game is about what you want it to be.

There is gold in the game, so it's about collecting gold - if you so choose.

There are weapons, armour, skills in the game, so it's about collecting what you consider to be the best of these items - if you so choose.

There is/was/maybe the ability for some people to solo, so it's a single-player game - if you so choose - and of course are capable of doing so
